The Seventh Week
Well, this has been a busy
week. I am practically exhausted and this is supposed to be my vacation
...
We have had the "Raad van Beheer" in who came to identify the pups by
means of chips. They have had their vacination, they are being weaned (so their
mom stays over at my moms place from time to time) and we have had more visitors
here than I have had since I moved in to this appartment. Highlight was of
course the coming of Nicky Patterson accompanied by her daughter Natasha and her
friend Judy McKissick from Texas, USA. Judy also breeds blacks so we had a jolly
good time talking about our favorite dogs. Followed the next day by Anette
Johnsson from Sweden, who also breeds black lakies. At the World Dog Show -
where we all met in the first place - I also ran into Pirjo Hjelm from Finland
and she had a litter of pups born that very day (July 5 2002). Between all
the other visitors and possible buyers we have tried to relax as much as
possible, but the weather isn't on our side either. It's too cold for the time
of year and there is a lot of rain. As a result the grass on my balcony grows
extensively in some parts and is drowning in others. The pups are doing great
though: they grow and grow. By now too big to weighed on my kitchen scale (which
means they are over two kilo's), they play and fight, stirring everything up and
they have gone on their first walks on leash through my hometown. They have been
out there with the adult dogs to give them comfort, and they have been out with
just me. They don't mind whatever happens as long as something is happening.
Action is their middle name :-) Time for some pictures I think ...

A closer look

Another wonderful person I
met at The World Dog Show: Gesa (at the right). She is a friend of Tina
Schwanecke, who is the breeder of the mother of my litter and since she wasn't
able to come herself Gesa was her representative. She had a lovely lakieboy
"Joker" with her who comes from Pirjo Hjelm in Finland. In the back you can see
the presentation of our new lakelandbook (in Dutch) with one of the authors,
Hugo Stempher (sitting at the right).

Back in my moms garden,
Larousse keeping watch.

Everybody together. Including
my mom who tries to escape the camera.

Here two pups are playing
hide and seek behind the plants.

Rune on my lap.

Again Rune, I
am still trying to get him on the picture when he sits and shows the soles of
his hindfeet. I almost got it this time :-)
And yes, for those who wonder, I
have more pictures of Rune than of the other two. I take equal numbers or even
more of the blacks, but I guess the red one is more photogenic and my floors etc
are dark so the black don't stand out as much. I'll make amends by trying harder
next week!
